Jamie Smart gives a damn

by admin on October 9, 2009

jamiesmartI’m really excited to publish this first profile of a member of our December building team. Over the next little while, I’ll introduce all the others who are getting on board.

I’ve been familiar with Jamie’s training materials for a couple of years now, and had the great pleasure of training with him earlier this year. Since then, we got to chatting, and Jamie was immediately interested when I told him of the building trip to Zithulele. As we’ve discussed the trip over the last couple of months, I’ve really enjoyed his enthusiasm for engaging with the community on the level of the physical building, and on the level of the powerful personal development tools he commands. When you consider what people normally pay to spend a couple of days in the classroom with Jamie, I won’t be surprised to have a few people sign up for the building project, just to get to spend 2 weeks working in the sun with this NLP guru… and I can vouch for the quality of his chilli (I’m totally looking forward to some more of that!).

I asked Jamie a few questions so that you can get to know him a little better.

What do you normally spend your time doing?
I divide my time between teaching NLP, hypnosis & related subjects, hanging out with my friends, reading, making chilli, having massages, coaching, creating products & drinking coffee.

Where do you live?
Notting Hill, London

Where else have you lived?
Leicester, Oxford, Victoria BC, Vancouver BC

Have you built a house before?
No

Have you visited South Africa before?
No

What interested you about the project?
The opportunity to give something back while doing something way out of my comfort zone, meet some interesting people & grow as a person

What expectations do you have about the project?
Hot, challenging, inspiring, tough

What do you think you bring to the team?
Peace of mind, inspiration, communication skills, chilli con carne

What challenges do you think we might face?
Heat, muscle fatigue, doing battle with “the wimp within”

Do you have any other plans for your visit to South Africa?
Teaching some “Enlightened Success” workshops & going on safari

What are you most excited about?
The possibilities for personal transformation that this group & this experience offer

Anything else you want to say?
You’re capable of far more than you think you are, because you ARE far more than you think you are

Thanks, Jamie. We are really excited about having you on board, and we’re looking forward to showing you around South Africa.
